Lenten 2024 Small Group Study

Have you imagined what it would be like to sit down beside Jesus as he explained the Bible? Small group leader Elaine Deatherage will help participants to bridge the gap of time and culture by bringing the teachings to life through the perspective of the original audience.

The book Reading the Bible with Rabbi Jesus by Lois Tverberg is available at Christianbook.com and Amazon.com from $13-$15. Please purchase the book prior to the group start date.
(Audiobook and E-book are available for free through the hoopla app.)

If you have questions, please contact Elaine at Elainedeatherage@mac.com or Mindy Takechi (small group co-coordinator) at hpyhrts4@gmail.com.

Lenten Series

Our Lenten Series this year, Gifts of the Dark Wood, based on the book by the same name by Eric Elnes, is about seeing life through new eyes, recognizing that experiences of failure, emptiness, and uncertainty are as critical for finding our way through life as they are unavoidable. We will see how experiences of life through the “dark wood” are actually clues to our calling or life path. How can the struggles of life be the seedbed of spiritual awakening to the fullness of life?

Join the Worship Service every Sunday at 10:30 AM in Person or by YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/@SacramentoJapaneseUMC/streams
