Music holds a vibrant and central place in the heart of SJUMC. Throughout the year the Chancel Choir presents music for each liturgical season, featuring a children’s procession on Palm Sunday and participation in an ecumenical joint choir on Good Friday. The Christmas season highlights special advent anthems and culminates in a Christmas Eve pre-worship concert followed by worship through carols and scripture. Special musical guests are heard throughout the year with at least two Sundays featuring the RiverBells handbell choir under the direction of Paul W. Allen. For more information or to join the Chancel Choir, please contact Lyssa Ogilbee at sjumchoir@gmail.com.

RiverBells Sacramento, a community handbell ensemble
RiverBells is a professional-quality, community English handbell ensemble in the Sacramento area. RiverBells is still active – just not meeting currently because of the pandemic. If you would like to make contributions to the RiverBells during this pandemic-forced downtime, you can do so on their website. The RiverBells said, “We plan to meet just as soon as it is safe. Please, continue to stay safe and we look forward eagerly to rejoining the church program as soon as possible.”
