Music and Choir

Music holds a vibrant and central place in the heart of SJUMC. Throughout the year the Chancel Choir presents music for each liturgical season, featuring a children’s procession on Palm Sunday and a joyous celebration on Easter Sunday. The Christmas season highlights special advent anthems and culminates in a Christmas Eve pre-worship concert followed by worship through carols and scripture. Special musical guests are heard throughout the year with at least two Sundays featuring the RiverBells handbell choir under the direction of Paul W. Allen. For more information or to join the Chancel Choir, please contact Lyssa Ogilbee at L.Ogilbee@sacjumc.com.  More information about the RiverBells handbell choir can be found at https://www.riverbells.org.

The Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir presents sacred choral music during Sunday morning worship services. The choir meets September through June (Fathers’ Day). Short rehearsals are held before worship and right after worship each Sunday in the sanctuary. Audio practice recordings are provided to each member. The choir always welcomes new singers. If you are interested in joining the choir, please email Lyssa Ogilbee at L.Ogilbee@sacjumc.com, or text her at (916) 335-8648 to arrange a meeting. Tenors and basses are particularly welcome.
