Basketball
The Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church participates in the Northern California Church League. The participation is an outreach under the Sports & Recreation Ministry to offer local youth, second grade through high school, the opportunity to participate in a sports league focused on teamwork, fun, fair play, fellowship, and good sportsmanship. Instructional league is offered for children ages five to seven. Church and/or Sunday School attendance is a league requirement.

Boutique
The Boutique makes handcrafted items for the Fall Bazaar. They meet once a month on Monday mornings in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 AM. They make many items, such as dish towels, pillows, blankets, knitted afghans, ornaments, and aprons. The Boutique always welcome new crafters and ideas.
Caregiving Ministries
This group of volunteers visit people in homes, assisted living and nursing homes. Workshops on many topics are provided.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir presents sacred choral music during Sunday morning worship services. The choir meets September through June. Practices are Mondays at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary. If you are interested in joining the choir, please Lyssa Ogilbee at sjumchoir@gmail.com. (Learn more here)
Craft Club
The Craft Club makes handcrafted paper crafts, such as greeting cards, gift bags, tags, and scrapbooking. They have several greeting card sales per year and donates the proceeds to various organizations. One or two members are assigned each month to demonstrate a craft technique.

Garden Angels
The Garden Angels are a group of people interested in keeping the church property in good shape, specializing in landscaping. We meet every Thursday morning at 7:30 AM for breakfast at the church (free of charge). On the 3rd Thursday, we go out for breakfast. We do all the pruning, cutting, weed pulling and general cleaning of the church property. We are there for fellowship and gardening. All are welcome, church members and non-church members. We have jobs for everyone. Experience not necessary, we will train and supply equipment. (History of Garden Angels Video)
Mission Committee
The Mission Committee provides ministry to the community and beyond in many ways:
- South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership: SJUMC joins with area churches to provide an active Food Closet in serving needy families and the homeless for over 35 years.
- Youth Mission Trip: Youth travel each year with the Sierra Service Project to help those in need.

Would you like to pray with someone? This group meets at 11:15 AM on a Thursday every 3 weeks.
Older Adults
Senior Exercise
Thursdays 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM — If you are an older adult and would like to exercise with others, please join us Thursday mornings in the Fireside Room. We exercise every part of our body while having fun and keeping in shape!
Line Dance Classes
Beginning Line Dance — Tuesdays 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM in the Multi-Cultural Hall
Intermediate/Advanced Line Dance — Wednesdays 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM in the Multi-Cultural Hall

Spirit Within Group
The Spirit Within Group meets once a month to share their faith in fellowship. Members of the group are assigned periodically to organize an event, such as lunch, nature walks, movies, or dinner.
Tanoshimi Kai, Senior Meals on Wheels
This group meets on Thursdays at 10:00 AM.
United Women in Faith (UWF)
The United Women in Faith (UWF) is an active women’s group of about 100 members. Activities include educational programs, community service projects and fellowship. (Learn more here)
