History

The Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church (SJUMC) originated from the merger in June 1968 of the former Pioneer Methodist Church (Japanese) of Sacramento and the Florin Japanese Methodist Church. The four acre site and the multi-purpose building were donated by the dispersed Merwin Memorial United Methodist Church. A new sanctuary and multi-purpose social hall was built in 1970.

SJUMC has its root deep in the past of these two historic Methodist Churches. To read more about the history of SJUMC, please click here.
