2025-2026 SJUMC Basketball Season

The Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church Sports & Recreation Ministry is excited to announce that registration will be open on August 24 through October 10, 2025 for the 2025-2026 SJUMC Basketball Season.

  • Please refer to the SJUMC Participation Guidelines for details.
  • Our goal is to promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for families that would like to participate in various church events throughout the year aside from basketball.

Details below will be updated after registration closes on October 10, 2025.

  • Weekly basketball practice will start in November. Team practice days TBD after registration closes. Last year’s practice schedule is listed below and should be similar for this year.

    1. Monday – E* Division from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
    2. Tuesday – B* Division from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
    3. Wednesday – C* Division from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
    4. Thursday – Instructional from 6:30 – 7:30 pm
    5. Friday – D division from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
    *subject to switching if coaches and parents agree

  • The Northern California Church League (NCCL) anticipates a 10-game season from December 2025 – February 2026 and an end of year tournament in March 2026. Last year’s Divisions D and E teams played on Saturdays; B and C teams played on Sundays. The schedule and location of games are determined by the number of church teams. For last year, the ten games were split between two locations: the Chinese Community Church (5 games) and SJUMC (5 games).

  • A player is ineligible to play in the NCCL, while the person is on the roster of a High School Varsity, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman, YBA or NAU team as of the start of and during the current NCCL season. SJUMC will refund a player’s registration fee if the player makes his or her High School basketball team.

  • Parents will be asked to assist their child’s coach by selecting a team parent and will be discussed on October 17, 2025 at the Coaches/Parents meeting at SJUMC. Meeting time and details will be emailed after registration closes.

Ageless Inspiration (AI)

Ageless Inspiration (AI) started in May 2024 and is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 11am to 1pm.

Various crafts, mahjong, movies, and other activities are scheduled with a light lunch. There is no cost for the participants except for other activities such as Ikebana.

Signups are preferred so the committee can plan accordingly. If you are interested, please email office@sacjumc.com.

Pickleball

Pickleball is held in the Multicultural Hall.

  • Friday – 9 am to 12 pm
  • Sunday – 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

There is a maximum court limit of 24 players. Priority will be given to SJUMC members.

A limited number of paddles and balls will be provided. Please wear rubber sole shoes and a comfortable outfit and bring your signed release of liability form (see link below).

Line Dance

Line Dance is open to all and held in the Multicultural Hall.

  • Tuesdays at 10 am for Beginners
  • Wednesdays at 9:30 am for Intermediate/Advance

Just walk in. No registration is required. A donation of $2 is appreciated.

Senior Exercise

Thursdays 10am – 11am

If you are an older adult and would like to exercise with others, please join us on Thursday mornings in the Fireside Room/Zoom. We exercise every part of our body while having fun and keeping in shape!
