January is Wellness Month!

Every January at SJUMC, we like to start the New Year with Wellness Month. Every week will have events that focus on different aspects of our health. Below are a list of events that will take place throughout the month.
You can register for each event HERE.

As part of January’s heath month, we will be offering people looking to work out an introduction to CrossFit.  By definition, CrossFit is functional movements performed at high intensity.  While the level of intensity can vary widely we will start simply with an introduction of warm-up exercises without equipment. Bring water and a towel. A yoga mat can be useful if you have one, but not required. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Registered members only. If you are interested in joining the workout, please register via email by Tuesday, January 11th. Email address: office@sacjumc.com.

Dental 101 with Denton Sato, DDS
Thursday, January 20 at 7pm & Saturday, January 29 at 10am on Zoom (same workshop, offered twice)
I am a general dentist working in Midtown Sacramento. As part of January being wellness month, I have volunteered to lead a meeting on Zoom to answer general questions and concerns church members may have pertaining to dentistry. As many aspects of dentistry are subjective, it is completely possible to get very differing opinions from different dental providers. I hope to help provide insight and depth into what makes the dental field so complex and how your dental health has a significant impact on your overall health.  While I am unable to provide a specific diagnosis for individuals over Zoom, I am willing to look over treatment plans you may have received from other providers and help navigate what it means and if it makes sense to your needs. Please include SJUMC in the title to any emails to DoctorDenton@gmail.com.

Mental Illness Support Group (Zoom) with David Bartley
Shoulders to Lean On: A peer lead support group focused on loss, grief, and mental health.
Even before COVID, life could be hard, really hard. But COVID has ramped up the difficulty factor by degrees of 10! And while each of us walks our own path, the challenges we face, the struggles we endure, and the heartaches we suffer oftentimes mirror others’. Because of this, some of the deepest healing can occur when we allow ourselves to join in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment of peers. There is no need to carry the burdens of life alone. Come and discover what it feels like to have a shoulder to lean on. $25.00 registration fee. Please let Rev. Motoe know if you are interested in joining this group.
