SSIP Food Closet Needs

Cash and check donations enable the Food Closet to buy more food at a better price. Envelopes are available in the Narthex.

Volunteers Needed

Are you willing to:

  1. Take food items to and from the Food Closet and two Storage areas as needed using market-style shopping carts?
  2. Haul out empty boxes to the dumpster area, milk crates, and bread trays to the storage area to keep the hallways clear?
  3. Empty small and light-weight containers?
  4. Sort through assorted bread products, cracked eggs, sticky pastries, overly ripe produce, and repackage for distribution?
  5. Unload food donations from volunteers’ vehicles into food closet and/or storage areas?
  6. Re-bag rice, beans, potatoes, onions, and citrus from 50 to 100 pound bags into smaller vegetable bags for distribution?
  7. Keep book donations stocked outdoors for distribution from opening to closing?

If you are willing to do such “dirty job” that are critical to the daily operation, we need you NOW as part of the very dedicated Food Closet teams.  For more information or to volunteer with one of the daily teams, please call and ask to speak to Maggie Cabutage, Food Closet Coordinator, at either 428-5290 or 595-9504.
