SJUMC members serve others. With leadership through its Mission Committee, SJUMC provides ministry to the community and beyond in many ways:
South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership: SJUMC joins with area churches to provide an active Food Closet serving needy families and the homeless for over 35 years.
Bowling Green Charter Elementary: SJUMC has partnered with our neighborhood school at both Chacon Academy and McCoy Academy
Family Lunch for Bowling Green families on the last Saturday of the month started October 2014
Book repair/library assistance at the McCoy Academy Library which serves both campuses.
Classroom assistance in Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms at McCoy.
Volunteer assistance and financial sponsorship for Chacon Student of the Month parties every trimester and providing certificates for every Student of the Month.
Volunteer assistance for activities such as Chacon Winter Carnival, Family Nights and book fairs.
Donations of items, such as clothing, books, backpacks, project materials, and sports equipment.
Volunteering in the Community: SJUMC members have volunteered at
Loaves and Fishes serving lunch
Winter Shelter: Assisting St Mark's UMC to prepare and serve dinner, and host their homeless guests.

Stop Hunger Now: An international hunger relief food packaging program was held in March 2014 after fundraising for almost a year.
Opening Doors refugee assistance: “friending” a refugee family from Bhutan through partnership with Opening Doors.
Adult Mission Trips: Mission trip to New Orleans for Katrina Recovery assistance in November 2010.
Youth Mission Trips: Many youth mission trips have served throughout California and to New Orleans.
