Child Care Available

The Nursery is available for children 0-2 years old and for 3-4 year olds transitioning into preschool. The room is by the Sanctuary and the Narthex (the entry to the Sanctuary). There are two Nursery attendants there between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM

Help is needed beginning at 2:30 PM for dinner prep and from 5:30 to 6:30 PM for serving, clean up, and dishwashing. Email Sue Teranishi if you can voluteer to help:


We have joined up with a recycling project. Schedule your pick up and the proceeds can be donated to us!


Items they pickup, working or not:

All TVs, video games, computers, monitors, fax machines, calculators, desktop copiers, cell phones, phones, printers, vacuum Cleaners, speakers, keyboards, scanners, mice, laptops, networking equipment, power tools, and more! All electronics are recycled locally in California.

South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership (SSIP) Food Closet

SSIP Provides emergency food to South Sacramento needy families and individuals.  Food drop off boxes are available in the Fellowship Hall.


Growing Young

Church Wide Survey

Deadline January 27, 2020

SJUMC was selected, along with 31 other churches in the CA-NV Conference area, to participate in a program from the Fuller Youth Institute called Growing Young. The goal of the program is to help churches examine their current situations and environments and work towards creating internal environments that are more welcoming and receptive of young people. Rev. Motoe, Momoko Newsome, Arlene Hagiya, and Ryland Fernandez are a part of the Core team and 16 others are members of the team. We are planning to have a worship series on Growing Young in February. As part of this effort we want to survey all church members.

Learn to read music/learn to ring handbells. Free class every Wednesday. RiverBells is a community ensemble of English handbell ringers. They have performed throughout the city & county of Sacramento.
